Staying well prepared. Vetter conducts large-scale emergency drill

Feuerwehr bei der Vetter Feuerwehrübung

In September, the fire department and our crisis management team once again practiced responding to an emergency during a large-scale drill.

No one expects, or wants, to experience a fire or emergency. Being well-prepared, however, can make all the difference, and we are committed to safeguarding our employees and the communities we are part of. That is why, every year, we work closely with local fire departments and run emergency drills across all our sites. By conducting various emergency exercises, we can respond with speed and efficiency during a crisis and remain resilient when it matters most.

Practicing under realistic conditions

On September 21, we conducted a large-scale emergency drill at the Schützenstraße site. The drill simulated a challenging situation involving a fire in a cleanroom area, several missing people, and critical decisions that had to be made under intense time pressure. Such exercises are invaluable because they allow us to prepare for the unique challenges of operating in a strictly controlled environment.

Crisis management and firefighters in action

When an incident occurs, Vetter’s crisis management team takes the lead. They assess the situation, make decisions, and coordinate the response. On the afternoon of the exercise, the team received a report of a fire breaking out in a cleanroom. The scenario escalated as the day progressed. Participants were able to practice communicating, following procedures, making decisions, and taking on responsibility under realistic conditions. The Ravensburg Volunteer Fire Department joined the exercise in the evening to locate and rescue the missing individuals. The drill also provided firefighters the opportunity to practice working together with the crisis management team, navigating the building, and preparing for the unique challenges of responding to an incident in a pharmaceutical production environment.

Close collaboration for greater peace of mind

The exercise demonstrated how well Vetter's crisis management team and the fire department work together. Their close coordination allowed both teams to navigate difficult circumstances effectively and efficiently. This, in turn, means greater safety for our employees and everyone affected in the event of an emergency.

Through large-scale exercises like these, we strengthen our crisis preparedness and, in doing so, reinforce the reliability that Vetter is known for.
