Global expansion
2010 was dominated by globalization. Drug manufacturers around the world sought new alliances, and many pharmaceutical and biotech companies merged to form corporations. Vetter looked to broaden its scope to appeal to international customers and increase its global presence. Even as Vetter continued growing its operations around the world, the Vetter family remained closely involved with the company.
More than half of Vetter’s customers are based in the United States. In 2010, Vetter began scaling up its North American activities by laying the groundwork for its first US manufacturing facility in Chicago. This production site allows Vetter to support US companies in the development of new drugs—from the preclinical phase through to phase II and clinical manufacturing. Vetter also provides regulatory support and assistance with the transition to commercial production. The opening of new sales offices in Singapore, Tokyo, and South Korea soon followed.
The company’s swift expansion demands a stronger focus on sustainability. Occupational safety, health, and environmental protection have long been central to the company’s philosophy. Vetter’s environmental, health, and occupational safety management system provides essential structures and processes, and encompass environmental and energy management officers, modern working conditions, efficient production processes, and waste recycling.
2023
Unprecedented sales figures
In 2023, Vetter reached an important milestone when it surpassed the billion-euro sales threshold for the very first time. The number of employees grew to over 6,600 during this period. That same year, Vetter joined two key international initiatives for sustainable business: the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate network promoting responsible business practices, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which is focused on enabling companies achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Another highlight was the opening of our new Training Center in Ravensburg-West in 2024. This center offers state-of-the-art amenities and helps in securing a future workforce of trained professionals.
