1965
Innovation meets precision – Vetter establishes itself in pharmaceutical contract manufacturing
In 1965, Vetter expanded its services from packaging to include contract manufacturing of pharmaceuticals. In collaboration with a local engineer, the company developed innovative techniques, becoming a pioneer in airtight and moisture-proof packaging. This quickly led to its first order from a global customer.
Vetter began packaging gelatin capsules, powder sachets, and tablets – products that required water vapor impermeability. A new innovative packaging machine made it possible to process tablets, capsules, and powders. Vetter also installed its first cartoning machine, which packages products in folding cartons.

1979
A winning design – Vetter’s groundbreaking idea for the ready-to-use syringe
In 1979, Helmut Vetter had an innovative breakthrough: the pre-filled syringe, which quickly became the centerpiece of the company’s production strategy and forever altered how medications are administered.
The design of the facilities took structural requirements into account and incorporated ventilation, air conditioning, and essential media – air, water, and steam. The required machinery and capacity were planned, packaging suppliers selected, and a realistic financing plan drawn up.
This development is a testament to Vetter Pharma’s technical prowess and dedication to improving people's lives.
