Vetter is clearly committed to climate protection: climate targets validated by SBTi
At Vetter, safeguarding the climate is fundamental component of our corporate strategy, not a fleeting trend. We have been part of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)—an internationally recognized organization that supports companies in developing science-based climate goals—since November 2023. Our long-term goal is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. And we will accomplish this through responsible actions, transparency, and measurable progress.
We have now reached an important milestone on this journey: The SBTi has officially validated our detailed climate targets. This is more than mere formality; it confirms that our strategy adheres to the most up-to-date scientific standards and that we are making tangible progress. We are taking action now, not at some point in the future.

Our climate strategy focuses on near-term targets, objectives that we want to achieve in the coming years. We've set ourselves the goal of reducing our direct emissions—including those from our facilities, vehicle fleet, and purchased energy—by 58.8% by 2034, compared to our 2021 baseline.
At the same time, we are looking beyond our corporate boundaries, recognizing that a significant portion of emissions is generated across our supply chain in the manufacturing of materials, transport, and capital goods. That’s why we set ourselves another ambitious goal : By 2029, we aim to have 80% of our key suppliers set their own science-based climate targets. Together with our partners, we’re taking responsibility for a sustainable future.
Reaching our climate targets will require a mix of long-term strategies and concrete action, from replacing older systems with more energy-efficient technologies to expanding our use of renewable energy sources like as photovoltaics, heat pumps, and geothermal energy. We’re gradually transitioning to sustainable energy sources such as biomethane and hydrogen. We already successfully converted a combined heat and power plant to biogas in 2023 and procured CO₂-neutral nitrogen starting in 2024. We are also raising the biogas share in natural gas to ten percent by the end of 2025. Several thousand tons of CO₂ will be saved each year due to these measures.
Validation by the SBTi is a testament to our commitment. It confirms that sustainability is not just an objective for us; it is embedded in our corporate DNA. We are taking responsibility today and for the generations to come.

Our aim is to consistently and sustainably improve the "how" of our actions
We work every day to improve the lives of millions of people and help them to improve their quality of life with the medicines we fill. In all dimensions—economic, ecological and social—we act responsibly, sustainably and with foresight.
