My path to Vetter
I was a baker for 25 years. When the business was sold, I thought to myself, “Now is the time to try something new.” I’d been considering switching to Vetter for a while, actually for about 20 years. But I wondered whether I still had a chance at 45. Friends who were working here encouraged me. "Why not?" they said. So I applied and was accepted immediately!
I spent my first five years in Materials Preparation, then I switched to Production Logistics. I’ve never once regretted making this decision. I've been very happy in my job ever since.
My day-to-day in Production Logistics
We are responsible for the entire flow of materials between trucks and production. In practice, this means we make sure that all goods are properly packaged, their identity is clearly verified, and every hygiene requirement is met. We’re also responsible for waste disposal and for supplying samples, cold-storage and frozen goods.
What I particularly appreciate about my job
Every day is different. Sometimes I work outside, sometimes in the refrigerated or restricted access areas. I really enjoy driving the forklifts—sometimes it doesn't even feel like work!
We need to be very mindful of hygiene in our work. It's just part of the job, especially in the high-hygiene restricted access area. And it’s still my favorite area. The team there is bigger and more diverse, and I enjoy having lots of people around. After ten years, I know many of my colleagues personally, and the camaraderie is important to me.
Clear shifts. Effective teamwork
I definitely see myself as a team player. Nothing works at Vetter without a team. At the same time, however, everyone has to take responsibility and think for themselves. This combination is what makes the job so special to me.
Another advantage is how predictable the shifts are. Because the work is assigned well in advance, my family and I can plan ahead. On top of that, I earn a fair salary, receive good benefits, and enjoy the security of a strong employer. I’ve recommended the job to friends more than once, with success.
I’ve found my dream job!
Anyone who wants to work in production logistics should be flexible, motivated, a good team player, attentive to hygiene, and open to working shifts. For me personally, one thing is certain: I have 100 reasons for doing it and not a single one not to. This is truly a dream job!
