"2025 was a special year for Vetter," said Udo J. Vetter, Senator h.c., Chairman of the Advisory Board and member of the founding family. “We reflected on our 75-year history, for one, and more importantly, we also set the stage for future initiatives. We successfully transitioned the leadership to the next generation and finalized the decision to substantially increase our pharmaceutical production capacity with a new location in Saarlouis. This firmly underscores our commitment to Germany as a place of business. No jobs at our existing sites are at risk. Moving forward, we want to supply more patients worldwide with essential medicines and improve their quality of life."
Infrastructure projects in Germany and the US
Despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions, we continue to see stable demand from pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide. We are investing extensively and strategically in modernizing and growing our sites in Germany and the United States. While continuing operations, we are building and expanding our production site on Schützenstraße. Several hundred more employees will be needed in the coming years to staff the five additional clean rooms that will be built there. We expect to open the adjacent parking garage on Eywiesenstraße in summer 2026. Our Center for Visual Inspection and Logistics in the Erlen industrial park is also continuing to grow and is entering its third construction phase.
In Saarlouis, we are preparing to launch a new pharmaceutical production site for injectable drugs—a major investment project outside of our home region. We are also steadily expanding on the international stage. In the Chicago metropolitan area, we broke ground on a new production facility that will replace a previously leased site. There, we will produce small batches of promising novel drugs during their development stage.
Employees benefit from growth
We also consistently invest in our employees' continued development as we expand our production capacities. Several buildings within our extensive facilities are dedicated to training and qualification. The number of our trainees and students remains stable at circa 160. During our Town Hall, we recognized our top-performing trainees and students for their outstanding performance.
Learning is key to our success. We are leveraging our Vetter Learning digital learning platform to meet the growing demand for knowledge transfer, professional development, and training. At the same time, we are driving digital transformation throughout the company.
Automation and process-efficiency projects allow us to boost speed and quality consistency while optimizing resource consumption. We involve our employees every step of the way and ensure that they receive the training they need.
We are delighted with the company's continued positive development, especially during these economically uncertain times. It is important to us that this growth also benefits our employees—through fair participation, development opportunities, and job security.
Claudia Schmidt, Chair of the Works Council
The family-owned company will ensure its employees have a financial share in its success. By October 2026, the pay of all employees covered by collective bargaining agreements will be increased by three percent in two stages. For the first time, employees will also receive a company-wide bonus. Allowances for on-call duty have also increased significantly since the start of the year.
