Vetter invites pharma executives to roundtable on apprenticeships
Meeting will explore apprenticeship programs in pharmaceutical manufacturing
Skokie, April 26, 2018:
- Apprenticeship as method to develop skilled employees and lower the cost of recruitment
- Attract young adults to manufacturing by offering a valid educational alternative
Vetter, a global leader in prefilled drug-delivery systems today announced that their Vetter Development Service Chicago site will be hosting an event entitled “Overcoming Workforce Challenges in the Pharma Industry” on May 3, 2018 at their Skokie, IL facility. The event is designed to inform pharmaceutical and biotech companies about how apprenticeships can help attract, train, and retain a skilled workforce for manufacturing.
“As a company headquartered in Germany, Vetter has extensive familiarity with dual education systems, which are very popular and well-accepted in Germany and have been gaining in importance in the US,” says Susanne Lemaine, Ph.D., President Vetter Development Services USA. “We acknowledge that the traditional college education career path is not generating the workforce the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry needs for future growth. We are confident that apprenticeships can help to meet this need, and we encourage other pharmaceutical companies in the Midwest to participate as well.”
The event will introduce the Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT) Apprenticeship Program, the only program in the Midwest fully benchmarked on the German Dual Education System. Now in its third year, the ICATT Apprenticeship Program helps U.S. manufacturers build a sustainable pipeline of talent while offering young adults a valid educational alternative to a high-cost, 4-year university program.
The ICATT Apprenticeship Program was created in 2015 by the German American Chamber of Commerce® of the Midwest, Inc. of which Ms. Lemaine serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Vetter is proud to support the introduction of a program specifically designed for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
The event on May 3 will begin with a networking session at 1:30 pm at Vetter Development Service USA Inc, in Skokie, IL. An introduction from Markus Maiwald, Vetter’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and a discussion led by Mario Kratsch, head of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program on the potential role of apprenticeships in the pharmaceutical industry will round out the program.
